Daniels, playing with a bandage beneath his right eye after a bloody hit, racked up 304 total yards and two touchdowns in his playoff debut. The rookie quarterback secured the franchise’s first playoff win in 19 years, capping off an electric beginner season in the NFL.

The 24-year-old played like a seasoned pro in his first playoff game. He completed 24 out of 35 passes for 268 yards. He also ran for 36 yards on 13 carries. One key difference from earlier in the season was his ability to keep his eyes on his receivers while running, leading to big plays, like a crucial 9-yard pass to tight end Zach Ertz on a third-and-6 from his own 12-yard line.

As a result of the Commandeers’ win, Daniels has made history as the first rookie to lead his team in both passing and rushing during a playoff win, according to NFL research. Additionally, he became the first Washington rookie quarterback since Hall of Famer Sammy Baugh in 1937 to secure a playoff victory.

Daniels’ incredible performance earned him praise from online users, who highlighted how his efforts marked a major comeback for the team after years of struggle.

One fan exclaimed“Jayden Daniels really transformed this team! 1 of 1.” Others couldn’t help but marvel at his potential, with one commenter asking“Is Jayden Daniels the future of the NFL?”

As Daniels’ continues to impress, one fan boldly predicted“Jayden Daniels will be rookie of the year mark my words,” while another chimed in with, “Changed the franchise.”

Fans of other teams also couldn’t help but take notice, as one Ravens supporter shared“The fact that he was 5 years old the last time this team went this far makes me smile. I’m a Ravens fan, but I’m happy for them.”

For some, Daniels’ impact was personal, as one fan passionately declared, “Savior of the franchise!!!” and another joked“Oh Jayden Daniels, I would lay my life down for you my glorious king. Thank you for saving the commanders.”

A few fans were especially amazed at his talent, commenting“That fact that he’s doing all this & is a rookie is INSANE, [sic]” and confidently asserting“Rookie of the Year confirmed. Argue with a wall.”

Daniels expressed gratitude for his remarkable achievement and making history, “It’s nothing but a blessing.” He thanked God and his teammates for their support. He also noted that the NFL Wild Card playoff atmosphere differs from regular games, with the stadium’s energy being much higher.

Looking ahead, he emphasized focusing on one game at a time and using their momentum to see how far it will take them.

The Commanders, who finished last season with a 4-13 record, have turned things around by focusing on the little things. Thanks to strong performances late in games, they finished this season 12-5 in Coach Dan Quinn’s first year.

Furthermore, while Daniels played a big role in Sunday’s win, the defense also played a key part by limiting the Buccaneers to 284 yards and slowing down their powerful offense.

Hence, while the spotlight is on Daniels, it was truly a team effort — from the coaching staff to the quarterbacks and every player on the field — that led to their success.
